Ransomware is increasing at a tremendous rate and is projected to continue at an alarming pace. Do not fool yourself into thinking you are not a target. All systems, large and small are potential targets. Ransomware is often spread using a “shotgun” approach. If you are connected in anyway, even just for email or web browsing, you are a potential target!
Currently ransomware is one of the most prolific and damaging of cyber-attacks in the world. Cyber-criminals are very successful in attacking everyone from individuals, large corporations, hospitals and even government entities. Once infected a desktop or entire network is disabled due to file encryption. Some attacks even begin deleting files until a ransom has been paid. The longer you wait, the more damage is done. A ransom is required by the attacker to provide a key to unencrypt the files.
